SRH vs KKR IPL 2025: Explosive Klaasen Powers Sunrisers to 110-Run Demolition
Sunrisers Hyderabad ended their campaign in IPL 2025 on a high by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by 110 runs in Delhi. Riding on Heinrich Klaasen’s blazing 105* off 39 balls, SRH posted a mammoth total of 278/3 – the third-highest score in IPL history.
Klaasen smashed 9 sixes and 7 fours to reach his century in 37 balls, which is the joint third fastest century in IPL history. His aggressive partnership with Ishan Kishan (40 off 29 balls) and a brilliant start from Travis Head (76 off 40 balls) completely demolished the KKR bowlers.
In response, KKR crumbled under the pressure of the scoreboard. Despite some resistance from Sunil Narine, Manish Pandey and Harshit Rana, they managed just 168 runs. Jaydev Unadkat (3/24), Harsh Dubey (3/34) and Ishan Malinga (3/31) chased down the target with ease.
The win broke SRH’s five-match losing streak against KKR, although it came too late to impact their playoff hopes. With this loss, KKR ended the season in 8th place, while SRH momentarily moved up to 6th.
Both captain Pat Cummins and Ajinkya Rahane admitted that their teams lacked performance and consistency throughout the session. However, Klaasen’s brilliant innings will be remembered as one of the best innings of IPL 2025.
🔥 Klaasen’s Century Lights Up Delhi
Klaasen’s 37-ball century – the joint third-fastest in IPL history – was superb. He hit 9 sixes and 7 fours, showing great batting and timing. With excellent support from Ishan Kishan and a solid start from Travis Head (76 off 40 balls), SRH posted a mammoth total of 278/3 – the third-highest total in IPL history.
💥 KKR’s Bowlers Struggle, SRH Capitalizes
KKR’s bowling unit completely faltered. Varun Chakravarthy and Nortje’s bowling was poor, Nortje conceded 60 runs in his 4 overs. Even Sunil Narine, who is usually considered reliable, leaked runs after dismissing Head. Klaasen’s relentless attack made it almost impossible to stop SRH’s score.
⚡ Unadkat, Dubey, Malinga Wreck KKR’s Chase
In response, KKR crumbled despite Narine’s brilliant start. Jaydev Unadkat’s clever variations (3/24), Harsh Dubey’s quick double-whammy and Ishan Malinga’s 3/31 put an end to any hopes of a comeback. Manish Pandey (37) and Harshit Rana (34) tried to resist, but SRH registered a stunning win.
📉 What This Means for SRH & KKR
This stunning win ended SRH’s season on a high, taking them temporarily to sixth place. Although they missed out on the playoffs, their explosive batting will be remembered. However, KKR finished eighth with just 12 points, ending a disappointing season.
🗣️ What Captains Said
Pat Cummins praised his team’s late recovery:
“We have a team that can go a long way. It’s just that we didn’t manage it this time.”
KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane accepted responsibility:
“The execution was poor. We let the SRH batsmen dominate right from the start.”
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s emphatic 110-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders was a perfect end to their IPL 2025 campaign. Riding on Heinrich Klaasen’s blistering 105 not out off 39 balls – the joint third-fastest century in IPL history – SRH posted 278/3, the third-highest total in the tournament so far. Klaasen’s fearless onslaught, coupled with Travis Head’s fluent 76 and Ishan Kishan’s useful 40, left KKR’s bowling unit bewildered and directionless. On the bowling front, Jaydev Unadkat, Harsh Dubey and Ishan Malinga shared nine wickets among themselves to crush KKR’s hopes of a comeback. While KKR faced resistance for a few moments from Manish Pandey and Harshit Rana, their batting was bound to collapse in the face of SRH’s disciplined attack. The win broke SRH’s five-match losing streak against KKR and highlighted their explosive potential, although it was too late in the season to secure a playoff berth. Skipper Pat Cummins admitted that the team lacked consistency on slow wickets but praised the side’s fight till the end. For KKR, it was a disappointing finish, finishing eighth on the points table with just 12 points.
Since both teams are out of IPL 2025, SRH can take heart from this powerful finish, while KKR will look to rebuild and come back stronger next season.
