Pakistan Batting – Haris, Nawaz & Afridi Lift the Total

Pakistan had a shaky start, losing both openers Sahibzada Farhan (4) and Saim Ayub (0) cheaply. Fakhar Zaman’s slow 13 off 20 didn’t help as the scoreboard crawled to 29/3 inside the powerplay.

Skipper Salman Agha (19 off 23) tried to hold the innings but fell in the 11th over. At 49/5, Pakistan looked in deep trouble.

It was Mohammad Haris (31 off 23), Mohammad Nawaz (25 off 15), and a cameo from  Afridi (19 off 13) that pushed Pakistan to 135/8. Nawaz’s two sixes and Faheem Ashraf’s unbeaten 14 gave Pakistan the momentum they needed.

For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed (3/28) and Rishad Hossain (2/18) were the pick of the bowlers.

Chasing 136, Bangladesh lost early wickets.  Afridi struck twice inside the powerplay, removing Parvez Hossain Emon (0) and Towhid Hridoy (5). Soon after, Saif Hassan (18) also departed to leave Bangladesh reeling at 29/3.

Despite a fighting knock from Shamim Hossain (30 off 25) and some late hitting from *Rishad Hossain (16)**, Bangladesh never looked in control. Haris Rauf (3/33) and Saim Ayub (2/16) ensured wickets kept falling.

Bangladesh ended at 124/9 in 20 overs, falling short by 11 runs.

Shaheen Afridi – The Game Changer

Afridi was rightly named Player of the Match for his match-winning spell of 3/17. He dismantled the Bangladesh top order and later chipped in with a crucial 19 runs with the bat.

After the game, Afridi said:

“I dedicate this award to my wife and son. Early breakthroughs were the key. Those three overs in the powerplay made the difference. I also enjoyed contributing with the bat.”

This performance underlined why Afridi remains Pakistan’s biggest match-winner in T20 cricket.
